The first Shoe Clozet was opened in August of 2014 at Contact Ministries in Springfield, Illinois and provides new shoes to  children in immediate need. It contains an inventory of hundreds of pairs of new shoes for children of all ages. Through references from local social service agencies and schools, we are able to provide new shoes to children who would otherwise be overlooked. Many of these children do not have a permanent home and are being served by local homeless shelters.

We opened the second Shoe Clozet in Jacksonville, Illinois two years ago and it is  housed at the Jacksonville Public Schools Foundation Office and run by Amy Albers, Executive Director. This serves the students of the entire Jacksonville School District 117 which includes 10 area schools.

In early 2019 we added a third Shoe Clozet at Blackhawk Elementary School in Springfield, Illinois and it is run by Principal Terrance Jordan.

In late 2019 two Shoe Clozets were added in Colorado at schools in Vilas, Colorado and Las Animas, Colorado.

Share the Spirit board member Julie Weichert is the Shoe Clozet Coordinator for the Illinois program and she coordinates with each facility to maintain inventory and make shoe purchases and deliveries.
